WINTER HIKES AROUND ST. SIGMUND

 

Grosse Dorfrunde / Big Village Round Moderate -2 hr - 5 km

The “Grosse Dorfrunde” was just recently completed and the yellow trail markers are now up!  This is an excellent way to see everything Sankt Sigmund has to offer!

 

Kleine Dorfrunde / Small Village Round Moderate - 1 hr - 2,4 km

The “Kleine Dorfrunde” was just finished last year. The first trail marker is right next to Alpine Apartments.

 

St. Sigmund - Haggen Winter Hike 1.5-2 hrs

This beautiful hike will take you right from our front door all the way to the next little village, Haggen, where you can order some delicious and local Tyrolean food.

 

GLEIRSCHALM Hike - Easy - 1.5km- 156m elevation gain

Gleirschalm is one of the most beautiful huts in the region, surrounded by mountains, this hut offers great food and an even better view.

KUEHTAI  SLEDDING - 2.5 km- 170m elevation gain

The family-friendly toboggan run is the highest toboggan run in Tyrol and starts at almost 2,000 meters above sea level at the valley station of the Drei-Seen-Bahn in the Kühtai ski area.

 

PRAXMAR KOGELHUETTE SLEDDING 1.5-2 hrs - 470 M Elevation gain - 4.4 KM

Directly below the Alpengasthof Praxmar, this toboggan run is well groomed and rarely icey due to the elevation.

 

JUIFENALM SLEDDING - 1.5-2 hrs - 600M Elevation gain - 5km

Juifenalm is a beautiful mountain hut that takes 1.5-2.5 hours to reach on foot, and is one of the longest toboggan runs in the area with spectacular views and a few small waterfalls on the way up.

SCHWAZER SILBERBERGWERK (1 hour by car)

If you are visiting Tyrol, you should take a tour of the “mother of all mines”, the historic silver mine in Schwaz. 

 

KLETTERZENTRUM INNSBRUCK  -  INDOOR CLIMBING (40 min by car)

Explore the worlds largest indoor climbing Gym, Kletterzentrum Innsbruck! 

 

HALL IN TIROL (40 min by car)

Hall in Tirol is an excellent spot to explore an old town. It’s the largest old town in Western Austria, with many winding and crooked pedestrian streets that you can stroll for hours. 

 

SWAROVSKI  CRYSTAL WORLD (45 min by car)

The Swarovski crystal world is a very unique tour, with sparkling interarctive rooms throughout, the glistening gardens are awe inspiring and the restaurant at the end has some great dishes. 

 

STEAM ROOM INNSBRUCK (30 min by car)

The Salurner Straße steam bath, lovingly renovated and revitalized to the highest standards, offers two Finnish saunas, two infrared cabins, a eucalyptus sauna and a steam bath. 

 

AQUA DOME SPA (50 min by car)

This indoor/outdoor spa and thermal baths is perfect for families or for a romantic trip for two. Enjoy the spa all day, or go just for a night trip. The lights are dazzling and watching the stars from inside a 36 degree pool is something you will never forget. 

 

INNSBRUCK (30 min by car or free with the bus + Welcome Card)

Innsbruck, the heart of the alps, is easily reachable by bus or car. Once you’re in Innsbruck, most sightworthy places can be reached on foot.

 

ALPACA HIKE IN OBERPERFUSS (15 min by car)

In Oberperfuss (the village down the mountain above Sellrain) you can bring a fluffy companion with you as you hike directly from the farm over flowering meadows at the edge of the forest.

 

CASTLE TRIP - SCHLOSS AMBRAS (30 min by car)

Ambras Castle Innsbruck is one of the most important sights in Austria and is a top excursion destination in Tyrol. 

 

KUEHTAI IGLU DORF (5 minutes by car)

Build memories in Kuehtai, using your hands and a shovel, a saw as tools and snow as the building material, you will create your own igloo. Built in a team and according to the ancient art of the Inuits.

 

 

FUN FOR FAMILIES

 

ALPINE ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND

  • just a short walk towards Gleirschalm from our apartments, with a brand new bouldering area! Free for everyone :)

 

ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND

  • In Gries by Pizzeria Marmota, you can have a drink and a slice while your children play in the sun

 

GLEIRSCHALM

  • With children the hike should take approx. 45min - 1 hour, on the way you can visit the playground. The hike goes directly from our Alpine Apartments!

 

LUESENS

  • You can park for free in the last parking lot in Luesens and take a nice walk through the beautiful, wild valley. With a magnificent view of the Luesener Fernerkoegel. Afterwords, you can come back to our Private Panorama Sauna ;)

 

ST. SIGMUND - HAGGEN ROUND

  • This winter hike takes off straight from our door and is perfect for nature loving children, with three restauraunts on the way as well as a couple streams and plenty of mossy forest to explore.

 

LARGE VILLAGE ROUND

  • This beautiful walk takes you past two waterfalls, then through the changing forest and back past the Gleirsch playground. 

 

SMALL VILLAGE ROUND

  • This year our community has marked and prepared the village round for you! Follow the yellow signs for "Kleine Dorfrunde", the first is starting right from our Alpine Apartments!

 

ALPINE APARTMENTS GUEST GARDEN

  • This is the perfect place, close to home, to build a snow man, a snow angel or have a snowball fight. Feel free to use the property going between the tree fence behind the sauna, all the way down to the street on the back side of the house -  or down the hill from our parking lot on the other side.
